Wagah Border in Amritsar
Wagah Border is about 28 kms from Amritsar. It is the only border crossing between India and Pakistan, where one can view the ceremonial changing of the guard at dusk.
Wagah is an ellaborate complex of buildings, roads and barriers on both sides. 'Retreat' ceremony takes place with the BSF at the sunset on the Indian side of the border.
The flag lowering ceremony at the actual border line up the road is a wonderful view. As the sun goes down, nationalistic fervour rises and lights are switched on marking the end of the day amidst thunderous applause.
