A Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) and a primary Radar was installed by Airport Authority of India (AAI) at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee (SGRDJ) International Airport.
These radars ensure you to boost the aviation alertness at the Airport.
MSSR is a recent technology in radar system. It covers almost 200 aeronautical miles area and the controllers at the Air Traffic Control (ATC) can conveniently detect the movement of aircraft.
The primary radar that was earlier available in Air force has also implemented at airport and its coverage area is 50 aeronautical miles of the airport.
The Director of Airport explained that all necessary tests of Radar have been done. Now they get mandatory license from the aviation regulatory body. He told that communiqués requesting approvals have been dispatched in all probability and functioning from next month.
These hi-tech gadgets can save fuel wastage that is used for waiting for the clearance of land.
