The state of Punjab has been notorious for having a huge percentage of drug addicts which has given a bad name to the once culturally enriched state. A recent study conducted by AIIMS revealed some even more controversial findings as opioids worth 7,500 crore are consumed in Punjab alone with 6,500 crore of heroin. This study has shed new light on the role of Pakistan in supplying the material as well as ISI which supports the whole operation.
The study which is first of its kind was conducted by National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC) at AIMS pulled the curtains and showcased the issue which has been a menace for the welfare of the youth of Punjab which is the largest group of consumers. The revelation show definitely opens the eyes of the government giving rehabilitation to this addict so that they have the adequate amount of support to quit these drugs and end this vicious cycle
