City experiences heavy rains after dust storm in Punjab

City and surrounding areas today experienced heavy rains after storm engulfed the entire city in dust. Sign boards, flex boards and roofs erected with tin angle irons blew in the air. Storm winds disrupted power supply and telephone services also in the city. The roads of the city and the low lying areas got inundated in the rainy waters flowing like rivulets. The temperature also came down as compared to that one recorded yesterday. The people were reeling under hot weather for the last five days. The rains which started pouring in the evening at about 5.30 brought respite to the people from the hot weather. Punjab State Power Corporation had also felt relief due to heavy showers that lashed the city and surrounding areas, which were likely to reduce power load on the corporation during the paddy season.
