One dead, 40 hurt as bus overturns

One passenger died and 40 injured when a private bus overturned on Muktsar-Malout road on Tuesday. The bus owned by Nagpal Transport Company was on its way to Ganganagar from Ferozepur when the driver lost control over the vehicle near Bhundar village in Muktsar in the afternoon. Piara Singh, 50, of Mukand Singh Wala village in Ferozepur died while Sukhpreet Kaur, 35, of Bhagsar, her 11-year-old son Aswinder Singh, Kulwant Kaur of Sohnewal village, Harpreet Kaur, 10, and Ashok Kumar of Malout were seriously injured. They were admitted to civil hospital in Muktsar. A case of death by rash and negligent driving has been registered against the bus driver Kulwant Singh, who fled the spot after the accident.
