Few takers for initiatives of Chandigarh Police

With a mobile app for women safety, and WhatsApp numbers and a Facebook page for redressing traffic and drug menace, the Chandigarh Police has undertaken several initiatives. However, not all have found many takers. The women safety app, which was downloaded by 4,699 people till May 31, has had only four users till now. The police officials handling the app said that it was better to dial emergency number ‘100’ than use the app. “The app is time-consuming and we are not well-equipped with the mobile and GPS towers to find out the exact location of the person.
