The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on Tuesday lashed out at Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj for her alleged links with scam-tainted former IPL chief Lalit Modi, calling her a ‘Hindu fanatic’ and accusing her of not “doing enough for the blacklisted Sikhs” after the 1984 riots. Sushma Swaraj is a Hindu fanatic who has risen in politics through the right wing Hindu organization RSS, party president and former MP Simranjit Singh Mann said in a statement here. “Lalit Modi is a criminal, a fugitive from justice and has taken refuge in Great Britain to escape trial,” he said. By asking the British government to help Lalit, Swaraj has defiled her position and office as the Foreign Minister, he said. Mann also drew parallels between the Foreign minister ‘helping’ former IPL chief and ‘doing nothing’ about the Sikhs blacklisted by the Union Government after the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi.
