Punjab Cricket Association Joint Secretary G S Walia has been appointed as manager of the Indian team to tour Zimbabwe from June 10 as per the communication received from Board of Control for Cricket in India.
The team will assemble at Mumbai on June 6 and leave for Harare in the early hours of Tuesday. According to PCA spokesperson Sushil Kapoor, Mr G S Walia had earlier been manager with the India U-19 tour to New Zeland in 2007 and Media Manager with Indian team’s tour to Pakistan in 2006 and Media Manager with Indian team’s tour to Australia in 2011-12. Mr Walia has been associated with the BCCI as member of various committees. Two Punjab players Harbhajan Singh and Sandeep Sharma will also be the part of the Indian squad which will play 3 ODIS and 2 T-20 matches in Zimbabwe.
