Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee today staged a dharna against the shifting of All India Institute of medical Sciences (AIIMS) from Doaba belt to Bathinda. Former MP and ex Punjab minister Mohinder Singh KP, PPCC spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira and DCC president Rajinder Berri led the protest. Congress workers in hundreds participated in the dharna and raised slogans against the Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his union minister daughter in law Harsimrat Kaur Badal for hijacking the prestigious AIIMS project from Doaba region to Bathinda. Sukhpal Khaira alleged that Badals are on the spree to shift presitigious projects allotted by the Centre to their ancestral district misusing mandate of the people. He said that the project of AIIMS originally was allotted for Doaba region and for the purpose, the chief minister himself had directed the Kapurthala district administration to identify land for the setting of AIIMS in the district. He said that Sarpanch of Ramidi village Kuljit Singh was motivated by the congress leaders including him to hand over the panchayat land free of cost for the project which would benefit the districts of Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar besides covering the border belt of the state. Former PPCC chief Mohinder Singh KP accused the SAD-BJP government for misguiding the people of the state on various issues.
