Akali sarpanch shot dead in Ludhiana

Akali leader and sarpanch Bhupinder Singh was allegedly shot dead by his brother outside a gym in South City area this morning, police said. Police said the Akali leader was shot dead from a close range when he was waiting in his SUV for opening of the gym. The victim received three bullets in his head, chest and stomach. People rushed critically injured Bhupinder Singh to Dayanand Medical College where doctors declared him brought dead. The assailant, identified as Canada resident Narinder Singh, is brother of the deceased. Narinder Singh along with his aide escaped from the spot after committing the crime.
Land and property dispute is the main cause of the incident, police said.
