THE SECURITY drills being conducted by the Chandigarh police, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) at the railway station in the run-up to Independence Day are evidently a mere eyewash. The entrance of the station is still unmanned and unguarded. As one enters the station, the first sign of laxity on part of the authorities is reflected through a non-functional metal detector door frame. The station is still not equipped with a baggage scanner.
