Raids conducted to seize sub-standard animal drugs across Punjab

Punjab’s food and drugs administration in order to curb the menace of spurious and substandard animal drugs carried statewide raids in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Moga and seized 157 samples from different manufacturing units, drug stores and chemist shops in these districts in the past 24 hours.The raids were conducted following the earlier seizure of 77 drug samples whose test and analysis revealed that six samples contained “0%” substance against 750 mg per injection, which was alarming. It appeared from the results that some manufacturers and traders were intentionally involved in this clandestine activity for the purpose of extorting money, food and drug administration commissioner Hussan Lal here said.
