The All India Kisan Federation has demanded a separate budget for agriculture sector budget on the lines of the rail budget.The demand was raised during a seminar organised by the federation here. As many as 130 activists took part in the seminar. Farm experts said over 60% population was dependent on agriculture, but it was contributing 13% towards the gross domestic product (GDP). On the other hand, the contribution of service sector was 60% towards the GDP, but only 27% people were engaged in the sector.Marxist Communist Party of India (United) general secretary Kuldeep Singh said “the neo-liberal policies persuaded by the BJP-led National Democratic Aalliance government were responsible for deepening agriculture crisis.”
