The Punjab government today formed an SIT team to investigate the incident of death of Swaran Singh, a resident of Behrampur Zimidara village after he was hit by a bus driver of Dabwali Transport company belonging to Badals. SIT team comprising, ADGP Iqbal Preet Sahota, IG Nageshwara Rao and DIG RK Jaiswal will now investigate the case and hand over report to the state government. However, dharna has been lifted by the protesters this evening after the formation of SIT. Earlier, the protesters had blocked road traffic near Kurali on the Chandigarh-Ropar road as the villagers refused to move back demanding a case against the driver of a bus owned by Badals. However, protesters alleged that police were trying to shield the bus driver on account of eyewitness and falsely booked car driver. According to them the bus had hit scooter not the car. The protesters demanded compensation for the victim’s family and a job for kin. Meanwhile, earlier today, commuters had to face difficulties as traffic had to be diverted through other routes. S Partap Singh Bajwa, president PPCC joined th dharna near Behrampur Toll plaza where the accident took place yesterday. Mr Bajwa while addressing to the mediapersons appealed to the Punjab and Haryana High court to take suo motu congnisance of this incident and summon Badals in this case. He also demanded that an FIR under section 304A CRPC be registered against all the directors of Dabwali transport company.
