Attractions of City – Ropar
Ropar is also known as Rupnagar. Ropar is a recently formed fifth “Divisional Headquarters” of Punjab. In Ropar there is Bhakra Dam which is across Sutlej River. The dam was created with a motive to provide irrigation to Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. In Ropar there are so many Gurudwaras like Gurudwara Sadabarat which was built in 1930 as Guru nanak Dev stay here when he was returning from Kiratpur Sahib after meeting Baba Buddan Shah.
Another Gurudwara Bhatta Sahib and built in the remembrance of Guru Gobind Singh. Pathans help Guru from enemies and give them shelter then Guru Ji gifted a silver sword a kitar and a dhal to pathans. Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib it is considered as one of the five blessed “Takhats” or seats of Sikh faith. One of the popular Jateshwar Mahadev Temple in which fair is held every year on shivratri.
