A court today sentenced two persons to life imprisonment in a petrol station acid attack case that took place near Mohali about four years ago.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (Senior Division) Parminder Pal Singh pronounced the judgment and sentenced Hardeep Singh, alias Deepa, and Jagwant Singh Bittu, residents of Desumajra, to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh each.
A case had been registered at the Balongi police station against the two attackers under Sections 307 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). After Shivatika’s death, the case was converted to Section 302 of the IPC. The two convicts were taken to jail under tight security after the judgment was delivered.
