Sub-divisional magistrate (east) Danish Ashraf reinforced ban on the use of plastic carry bags under Section 144 (power to issue order in urgent cases of nuisance of apprehended danger) of the Code Of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), in the area falling under his jurisdiction, on Tuesday. The ban on polythene bags will be effective with immediate effect.As per the July 30, 2008, notification of the administration, all kinds of plastic carry bags are banned in the city (irrespective of micron/thickness).
