Class II girls beaten for arriving late, head teacher suspended

The head teacher of the Government Primary School (basic) at Jagraon in Punjab’s Ludhiana district has been suspended for allegedly thrashing two girls in Class II who had turned up late for class on Thursday. Head teacher Sukhdarshan Singh allegedly slapped and thrashed the girls, both aged 7, till they began bleeding from the lips and forehead.It was only after their screams and cries reached the other classrooms that teachers came to their rescue and saved them. The teachers then called up and registered a complaint, against the head teacher, with the Ludhiana DEO, who reached Jagraon and conducted an inquiry.
