Another close aide of state BJP chief Kamal Sharma, Arvinder Singh Chinna alias Pothi was today named as an accused in the FIR 158 dated August 5, lodged at the City police station. The FIR pertains to the bribery case against some local BJP leaders and their aides. Poth is reportedly an OSD (officer on special duty) to Sharma. Sources said Pothi was among the accused who had allegedly accepted a bribe to bail out Manoj Kumar posted at LPC branch of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in a fake arms licence case. Amarjit Singh, SP (Detective), said Pothi’s name came to the fore during the interrogation of former BJP Yuva Morcha Ferozepur chief Jaspal Singh Sandhu alias Jimmy. The latter alleged that Pothi too had pocketed the bribe money in the Khattar Gun House case. The officer said Rs 15 lakh had allegedly exchanged hands between the relatives of Manoj, including Raju Khattar and Praveen Abrol, with Jimmy and others. Of the bribe money, the police yesterday claimed to have seized Rs 3 lakh from Jimmy’s residence while the remaining they claimed to have been passed on to others. A local court today sent Jimmy to one-day police remand. Hardyal Singh Mann, SSP, Ferozepur, said the police had asked Pothi to join interrogation in the case.
