Arrest of two Pakistani smugglers from Amritsar ahead of the June 6 Operation Bluestar anniversary has sent security agencies into a tizzy even as the preliminary interrogation of the accused revealed that they worked as cross border couriers for a Lahore-based narcotics dealer. Their arrest from Amritsar city has left some unanswered questions. Meanwhile, five companies of Punjab Armed Police have reached the border districts to strengthen the security ahead of June 6 anniversary. Inspector general of police, counter intelligence, Gaurav Yadav told TOI on Tuesday that two Pakistani smugglers, identified as Mohammad Atib Khan, a resident of Deriawala village in Narowal district, and Razif Mohammad from Sunnupur village in Shekhupura district, were arrested from Amritsar. Preliminary interrogation of both suggested that they worked for a Lahore-based smuggler known as Lamberdar Arshad and were his courier boys.
