Sources maintained that the party is working on a formula where all sections are accommodated to the satisfaction of prominent leaders in the State in a bid to end factionalism after learning lessons from the two successive defeats in the State Assembly polls at the hands of Akali Dal-BJP combine, besides poor show in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Giving priority to Punjab, the party is all set to replace the faction-ridden state unit soon with a “consensus” Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) to put up a “united” face ahead of impending assembly elections, scheduled to be held in 2017. Punjab Congress high command is chalking out the reconstitution of its top rung in the State to put an end to the factionalism within the party. Some Congress leaders may get new assignments.
