Defending former Puinjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh?s caution to the officers against putting another debt-burden on debt ridden Punjab, senior Congress leader and Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh today advised Education Minister and Akali Dal spokesperson Dr Daljeet Cheema not to be more loyal than the King and rationally understand what he (Capt Singh) had said. Reacting to Dr Cheema’s statement criticising Capt Singh for his caution, Mr Rana said that no well wisher of Punjab can ever think of putting another burden of Rs 10,000 crore debt on Punjab, which is already reeling under a humungous debt of Rs 1,25,000 crore. The Akali intentions are clear, he remarked, while adding, they know that they are not coming back to power, so are wantonly trying to borrow money and pass on the liability to the next government. He said this was extreme of irresponsibility on part of the Akalis and Congress will not let them do that.
The Congress leader said Capt Singh has every right to sound caution and he has done the right thing by advising officers not to let the Akalis push Punjab further into the vicious debt trap.
