MLA and chief parliamentary secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu of BJP is on a collision course with the alliance partner SAD (Badal) just like her husband and former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Navjot alleged that the Badal government has crores to dole out in Bathinda parliamentary constituency, represented by Punjab chief minister’s daughter-in-law Harsimrat Kaur Badal, but doesn’t have funds for the development of her assembly segment. Navjot said on Wednesday that she was left with no option but to sit on a fast in her constituency to show her resentment against the alleged discrimination with her. She didn’t announce any date to launch her fast. Talking to reporters, she said despite several reminders she had not received a single penny for the development of her constituency since 2014. “I got lanes of one of the villages in my constituency dug to lay sewerage lines, but now I have no money to build cemented roads as the government is not releasing funds,” she claimed. She alleged that Punjab government had released Rs 212 crore for Bathinda. Questioning the source of money given to Bathinda with sarcasm, Navjot said, “Either you take Bathinda and be the chief minister, deputy chief minister and MP from there, or give the rest of Punjab to BJP. Give us our cities and our money.” She further alleged that now Akali Dal had won Dhuri assembly bypoll and the party would dole out money in the segment.
