Bathinda police claim to have busted a gang that used to target unemployed youth with the promise of preparing fake certificates pertaining to age and qualifying marks to get them eligible for employment in the Indian Army through the five recruitments boards in Punjab at Bathinda, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala. The gang members used to tamper with age certificates or enhance marks in qualifying examination to show the ineligible persons to be fit for recruitment. Police have arrested three members of the gang while two are still at large. The gang used to charge up to Rs 3 lakh from a candidate for preparing fake documents. Police have recovered five certificates and Rs 1.70 lakh in cash from the possession of those arrested, and further investigation is underway.
