A car on Wednesday caught fire here in sector 23 and 24 , however, no one was injured in the incident . The interior of the car was completely gutted in the fire while car’s engine was safe. Traffic was halted for few minutes for dousing the flames.

Patiala police recovered 53 stolen cars, valued at Rs 6 crore, from a Meerut-based man in Delhi. It was culmination of planned crackdown on robbery and theft of vehicles, which lasted 10 days. Most of the cars recovered are either Toyota Fortuner or Innova and mostly purchased by Punjab-based businessmen and farmer families.

Two youths were killed when the bike they were riding on collided head on with a car coming from opposite direction near Hakima village in near Moga. Kuldeep Kaur (17) and Daljit Singh (18) were were yesterday returning to their village Jaimal Singh Wala after attending a religious procession. The incident occurred yesterday when a group of three boys, belonging to Ratrwan village near Pathankot, had gone to take a bath in the river following which they slipped into deep water. The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Kumar (17) and Javil (16), they said, adding that their bodies were fished out from the river by a rescue team.
