New academic session has begun but the fee regulatory panels announced by the government are yet not become functional.
Private schools charged the first installment of annual tuition fees and other charges, these fee regulatory panels are paved by the post SAD-BJP government in December. After so many complaints of private schools charging extremely high fee and other charges. Government of Punjab passed ‘Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutes Act, 2016.’ last year in December. Through this Act State would form division-level fee regulatory panel with divisional commissioners as its chairpersons.
These fee regulatory panels also has power to check excessive fee hike by the Private schools & institutions to earn as much profit as they can.
According to sources previous government has not comprise a single fee regulatory panels to control over the excessive fee hike .
Divisional Commissioners of punjab receiving many complaints regarding excessive fee, These complaints are being forwarded to Circle Education Officers (CEO) and District Education Officers (DEO), for taking strong steps against this. As per Punjab Regulation of Fee Act Rs30,000 to Rs2 lakh fine and cancellation of a school’s affiliation on provisional level in case private institutes management violates the Act thrice.
