Today, all meat shops will remain close in Ludhiana and Patiala on this occasion of Paryushan. Varun Roojam, Deputy Commissioner of Patiala said,” the owners of meat shops have been advised to shut off their meat shops on this sacred occasion. He added that a previous record shows that such type of orders are supplied every time on this festival and every time this request is made by Jain Sabha.
No advice was made related to closing of meat shops previous year. The authorities rigorously implemented the instructions and almost all restaurants in the area had placed the tag indicating that chicken and mutton would not be available for today.
Paramjit Singh, Police Commissioner of Ludhiana has forced ban on non-vegetarian eatables on this sacred occasion of Paryushan and it is publicized under section 144. The motive of making these directives is to maintain the sacredness of this occasion and not to hurt religious belief and feeling.
