In Amritsar there are many illegal marriage palaces. The Punjab Government said that they have shut down 30 marriage palaces that are running their operations illegally in Amritsar. Government also told this to Punjab and Haryana High Court .
Rajan Gupta Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court told to the authorities which are concerned that steps that are required further to be taken according to the law and policy.
Justice Gupta had already set a deadline for the state government to confirm that according to the earlier judgement the orders of closure should be issued. He also asked the authorities to tell the court that the policy framed for the marriage palaces being implemented or not.
Three months deadline was set by a Division Bench for the government to solve the cases of closed marriage palaces. The court was informed that government formed policy guidelines for the existing and new marriage palaces and also that cases should be considered according to these norms.
The Bench told that the current petition is disposed with a direction that dealing with these cases in terms of the policy.
