The ban on slaughtering of cows in Punjab has impacted the business of cow-breeding of worth Rs 2500 crore. Dairy farmers inculpating Gau Sewa Commision for hampering the permission for transportation of bovines to different states and also alleging that this delay has paralysed the occupation of cow-reproduction.
Punjab state is noteworthy in the field of cow-breeding. It disburses around 3 lakh high producing cows to different parts of the state such as Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Daljit Singh, Association’s President said,” The Punjab Gau Sewa Commission has made it mandatory for dairy farmers to take permission from district authorities for transporting cows to other states. Besides, permission is also required from a veterinary doctor.”
