City beautiful would be graced by the presence of a visitor in the coming days as French president is all set to inaugurate his tour to India from the Chandigarh.
The French president Francois Hollande is set to attend this year’s republic day parade as the chief guest on 26th January. UT adviser Vijay Dev provided information regarding the visiting plans of the president as his flight would land on Chandigarh airport directly from France.
This is the first time in 50 years that a French president would be visiting the city beautiful which is the first planned city of India after it attained independence in 1947, is known for its modern architecture and design. The city was planned by French architecture Le Corbusier therefore Hollande has expressed his desire to see Le corbusier’s work.
During his one day visit the French president is likely to visit all the important landmarks of the city such as the capitol complex in sector 1, Chandigarh architecture museum etc. It is also probable that a memorandum of understating would be signed with Chandigarh to help it develop as a smart city under the promise by French government to develop 3 Indian cities as smart cities.
