Yesterday morning on Chandigarh-Ambala highway heavy traffic jam was witnessed. There were very long queues of the vehicles. Up to Zirakpur this traffic jam was stretched. Because of this hundreds of the travelers faced inconvenience and also the Ambulances were stuck in the traffic jam. This traffic jam took place because of the morning showers which left the highway waterlogged.
It took about 45 minutes for commuters to reach from Zirakpur to Chandigarh . Passengers who were moving from Panchkula to the Hallo Majra light point were left fuming due to the traffic jam. Both sides heavy rush was witnessed. At 11 AM everything returned to back to normal.
At the light points traffic police were present this helped to make everything normal. Many employees were late for their workplaces because of the traffic jam. In Zirakpur the situation was more worse because of the waterlogged roads.
The authorities have to maintain a proper drainage system in the city. A real estate business man said that it took around one hour to reach his office in Zirakpur from Derabassi. And also every time when it rains the government and authorities blamed on the nature’s fury. They don’t try to find a permanent solution to this problem .
Executive Officer of the Zirakpur Parminder Singh said that passengers who were travelling on the highway suffered because of the water-logging. He also told that this problem persisted because of the underlying work of drainage pipes in the city.
