Possibly The Golden Temple Plaza will be completed by October. Officials said it is expected that the President will inaugurate it on November 1 . This project of expansion of the Golden Temple Plaza have already missed many deadlines.
On Diwali in 2014 the sprawling 8,250 sq ft marbled plaza which is opposite the Clock Tower entrance was opened to public in the first phase. And in the second phase the work in its basement will be done.
Executive Engineer JS Sodhi told that all the major parts will be completed by October. And when this is completed various facilities will be available in the basement. A bank, an ATM, air and rail enquiry windows, washrooms will be there in the basement.
In the basement four galleries are coming up. These four galleries are enriched with the core values of the Sikhism. All the galleries will be well maintained in such a way that the visitors can get the detailing in audio and video formats on LED screens.
He told that parking facility for VIP and VVIP lounge will be provided separately. And a separate conference hall which will have 100-150 seats has also been planned. Some of the residents said that this project has tarnished the heritage significance of the shrine. A heritage expert Prof Balvinder Singh told that the originality of the Golden Temple is altered. It is not a recreational spot but it is a sacred place

Some of the tourists told that the look of Shrine is enhanced by the plaza. With the glittering white marble entrance become more neat and so many facilities have been provided in the basement.
