The Punjab Energy Development Authority (PEDA) has tried to encourage the Punjab rural area people to use non-conventional energy. So they installed 1400 solar subsidized lights in number of villages in Mohali.
There are 16 different biogas plants are installed for the welfare of people. Mr. Suresh Goyal the District Manager explained that the government was supplied subsidy on Rs 4500 per light, Rs 9000 and Rs 11000 for various home based biogas plant for household for General category and SC category.
More of this the Government tried to aware about the use of non-conventional energy appliances so an exhibition was held at Gurduwara Amb Sahib.
The government also provides services to farmers also they could install a solar plant of 1 MW to 2.5 MW capacities. This Solar Plant was bought by the Punjab State Power Corporation.
The minimum land use to install 1 MW solar power plant and five different people can enjoy its services too. There are 15000 various plants will target to install in the district and approval has been issued.
